Valeria Scuto has recently concluded a year-long experience at NATO's Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers of Europe (SHAPE).

Valeria has completed an MSc in Conflict Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She graduated with Distinction by completing a dissertation exploring the relationship between the ideology of militant organisations and the observed patterns of violence in Italy during the ‘Years of Lead'.

During her studies, she has focused on a socio-political and security analysis of the Mediterranean region, the dynamics of intrastate conflicts, ideology and political violence. Thus developing a keen research interest for the role of non-state armed groups, specialising in their mobilisation, governance systems and repertories of contention.

Valeria also holds a BA in Political Science from LUISS Guido Carli University. Her prior professional experiences include work on gender, countering hate speech, and media and information literacy with UNESCO and on diplomatic consulting projects in the Middle East and North Africa at Independent Diplomat.
